The government of Iraq has unexpectedly slammed a recent CIA raid in a Syrian border village which is claimed to have killed an al-Qa'ida commander.
An Iraqi government spokes person, Ali al-Dabbagh told reporters "The Iraqi government rejects US aircraft bombarding posts inside Syria," adding "The constitution does not allow Iraq to be used as a staging ground to attack neighbouring countries."
The attack inside Syrian territory is expected to deepen suspicions in Syria and neighbouring Jordan that US military presence in the Middle East will be used as a base for future operations against them.
