The online game, Obama Card Challenge, was developed by the RNC New Media Team. Intended for members of Young Republican chapters, the goal of the game is to "to borrow and spend like President Obama." Players search and select among lists of different items until the shopping cart total equals some undisclosed enormous sum.
The purpose of the game is to attract college student gamers to the RNC web site. The rules section of the site says that the grand prize winner will receive a $3400 prize, payable to the "YR chapter" of the winner's choice.
According to The Politico, things did not go well after the online launch. Item searches for body parts, such as "breasts", displayed images displaying those body parts. Easily offended people could well have been startled.
The source of the images turns out to be the Amazon.com catalog, which was used for the game's content. Less amusingly, a search for the word "Jew" displayed the book cover for Jews and their Lies, a centuries old treatsie written by Martin Luther. ...
