SAN ANTONIO — A former Drug Enforcement Administration agent has been sentenced to 37 months in prison for conspiring to buy guns using false information.
The U.S. Attorney's Office said Thursday that Celerino "Cele" Castillo III, of McAllen, pleaded guilty to charges of dealing in firearms without a license and conspiring to do so. He will be on supervised probation for two years after his prison term.
The U.S. Attorney's Office said that between December 2006 and March 2008 Castillo and others lied about the actual buyer on weapon certification forms to buy dozens of guns.
