Re Michael Jackson & Al Malnik, Mafia Successor to Meyer Lansky

"Malnik is an attorney who had close ties to mobster Meyer Lansky and was at one time considered Lansky's 'heir apparent.'"

One wonders when that "one time" was, and exactly who it was that "considered" that to be the case?

My understanding is that the overwhelmingly undisputed "heir apparent" was always one Mo Dalitz.

There was more than one "heir" to Lansky's vaunted title, and Malnik was - probably still is - one of them:

'It was a known fact among the criminal underworld that dealing with Al Malnik was the same as dealing with Meyer Lansky,' [said] Vincent Teresa, 'a convicted criminal and frequent government witness currently in the federal Witness Protection Program,' ...

Friends of Michael Jackson will tell you there was no connection between Malnik and Lansky. At The Forge, upstairs in the old casino, in 1977, Lansky’s s epson, Dick Schwartz, murdered Craig Teriaca, son of a Mob figure, after a quarrel over $10. BTW, Richard Nixon partied at The Forge.

Random Daily News Jul 1, 2009 ... The article noted that Mr. Malnik's father, Al Malnik, the restaurant's prior owner, was also the lawyer for the late mobster Meyer Lansky.
